About Us

Owner Steven Markley leads a team of dedicated individuals who love and respect the marine industry and have a strong passion for boats. Steven is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Chapman School of Seamanship. He is ABYC Standards Certified and an experienced former 100 Ton Master Captain. Steven has spent many years operating, managing, and transporting small to large sized boats and yachts up and down the eastern seaboard and the Bahamas. Along with performing marine surveys, Steven manages recreational vessels for local owners and is a professional offshore fisherman. Steven has worked in many capacities within the marine industry, including commercial towing and freighter assists from Philadelphia to New Orleans, municipal utility vessels, and private vessels from New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, and the Bahamas.  

Steven has been working in the marine industry since 1995 and is committed to remaining current in industry standards with continued education and training.  He is dedicated to providing the most thorough and professional inspection of your vessel.  He believes it is equally important to educate his customers. Steven will do a thorough inspection of the vessel and explain everything he is looking for and why, ensuring his customers are well-informed every step of the way. 

Markley Marine Surveying performs surveys on a variety of vessels including power and sail from 16' to 110'.   Our surveys are performed using the American Boat and Yacht Council (AYBC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 302) Standards and Recommended Practices, as well as the United States Coast Guard 33 and 46 Code of Federal Regulations. All reports are USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) compliant with current standards.
